The Future is Opti-Float

Opti-Float® by Cox Research isn’t just another level detector—it’s the future of wastewater management. Built on decades of innovation, Opti-Float® delivers unmatched reliability and safety for facilities that refuse to settle for outdated solutions.

Aging Infrastructure Needs Components Built to Last

Every summer, more than 100 million people head to America's beaches. According to The 2025 Surfrider Foundation's Clean Water report , over 900 billion gallons of untreated sewage enter U.S. surface waters, and every year, more than 5 million people get sick from swimming in contaminated waters.

The Evolution of Float Level Detection And the Key to Product Demand

Float level detection has evolved significantly over time. What began with mercury switches transitioned to mechanical floats as safety concerns and regulations changed. While each step improved on the last, challenges remain. Today, the wastewater industry faces increasing demands for durability, and that’s why innovation in float level detection hasn’t stopped!

Climate Resilience with CAMO

According to key 2026 industry trends, climate-resilient infrastructure is a growing concern that stakeholders need to address. Across the country, water and wastewater systems are facing increasing pressure because of more frequent severe weather events. Aging infrastructure and rising energy demands are forcing utilities to rethink how systems are built and maintained.Climate-related disruptions, including hurricanes, flooding, extreme heat, and freezing temperatures, can halt operations entirely. These events threaten not only critical equipment but also public health and safety.

Expansion vs Evolution: The Future of Water Requires Smarter Investment

The Water Environment Federation notes that the U.S. water sector is entering a trillion-dollar investment cycle, driven by aging infrastructure, population growth, climate pressures, and increasing regulatory demands. This level of investment represents more than a necessary response to deteriorating systems; it’s a pivotal opportunity to rethink how water infrastructure is designed, operated, and sustained.

Opti-Flow is One Solution for Many Industries

No matter the industry, the challenge is the same: when a pump is running, operators need to know whether flow is actually happening. If flow is lost, damage can occur in minutes.

Opti-Flow: Reliable Flow Detection That Protects Your Pumps

Running a pump without flow can destroy equipment in minutes, often resulting in repairs or replacements that cost tens of thousands of dollars. Yet many systems still rely on fragile limit switches to infer flow from a check valve arm. Opti-Flow offers a smarter, more reliable solution.

Why Reliable Backup Level Detection Matters — And Why Opti-Float Excels Where Traditional Floats Fail

In lift stations across the U.S., operators rely on a range of level-sensing technologies to keep wastewater systems running safely. Some of these tools are electronic. Others are mechanical. And while each method has its place, they all share one unavoidable truth:Traditional level-sensing devices are susceptible to failure.

WEFTEC 2025: Our Most Successful Year Yet

This year’s WEFTEC conference in Chicago proved to be one of our most successful yet. Between connecting with industry professionals and exploring new ideas, the week was packed with excitement for what’s ahead in wastewater technology.

CAMO by Cox Research: Revolutionizing Flood-Ready Control Panels

In regions prone to flooding, electrical infrastructure is one of the most vulnerable and expensive assets to protect. Most electrical control panels are built to stay put, but when storms hit and waters rise, those panels are left to ruin. FEMA typically requires elevated platforms for post-disaster replacement panels, often mounted 30 feet in the air, making them hard to access and expensive to maintain.

AI and the Future of Water Management: Enhancing Efficiency with Opti-Float

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has revolutionized many industries, and water management is no exception. By integrating AI, water utilities can achieve greater efficiency and reliability.

Understanding the Impact of Population Shifts on Wastewater Infrastructure

The wastewater treatment industry is constantly evolving, shaped by shifting populations and the need for innovative solutions. To keep pace with these changes, wastewater infrastructure must adapt, addressing both immediate needs and long-term sustainability.

Case Study: Poughkeepsie Manhole Explosion

Two weeks ago, a manhole explosion in Poughkeepsie, New York, narrowly missed a family walking nearby.

The problem with PVC in your float switches

Do you use PVC-blended cables in your float switches? Most traditional floats rely on PVC to meet fire safety regulations, which sounds good, right?

Unlocking Efficiency with Cox Research's RetroKit: The Ultimate Solution for Retrofitting Panels

For companies and municipalities managing wastewater systems, adapting to evolving technology can be a challenge—especially when existing infrastructure wasn’t designed with modern advancements in mind. Cox Research has the perfect answer: the RetroKit (Opti-RK), a streamlined solution for retrofitting panels with Opti-Floats.
